Adding Mods to Hytale

Hytale supports mods, and Vexium makes it easy to install them directly from the Game Panel.
RAM Requirements: Mods significantly increase RAM usage. With mods and 5+ players, you may need 16GB RAM. Start with at least 8GB RAM for any modded server.

Using the Mod Installer

Vexium provides a built-in mod installer for easy mod management:

Stop Your Server

Go to the Console tab and stop your server before installing mods

Open Mod Installer

In the Game Panel sidebar, click More → Mod Installer

Browse and Install

Browse available mods and click to install them. Mods are automatically placed in the correct folder.

Restart Server

After installing mods, start your server. The mods will load automatically.

Mod Folder Location

Mods installed through the Mod Installer go directly to the server’s mod folder. If you need to manually manage mods:
  • Use the File Manager to navigate to the mods folder
  • Upload .jar or mod files directly if needed
  • Remove mods by deleting them from the folder

Monitor your RAM usage! Check the Game Panel for memory usage. If your server is consistently at max RAM, consider upgrading your plan or reducing mods.

Viewing Installed Mods

  • Check the Mod Installer for a list of installed mods
  • Or browse the mods folder in File Manager

Removing Mods

  1. Stop your server
  2. Go to File Manager
  3. Navigate to the mods folder
  4. Delete the mod file you want to remove
  5. Restart your server

Updating Mods

  1. Stop your server
  2. Remove the old mod version
  3. Install the new version via Mod Installer or manual upload
  4. Restart your server

Troubleshooting Mods

Server Won’t Start After Adding Mods

  1. Check if you have enough RAM
  2. Remove recently added mods one by one
  3. Check console for error messages
  4. Verify mod compatibility with current Hytale version

Server Crashes with Players

  1. You likely need more RAM
  2. Upgrade to a higher plan
  3. Reduce number of mods
  4. Reduce max players

Mods Not Loading

  1. Verify mods are in the correct folder
  2. Check mod file format is correct
  3. Restart the server completely
  4. Check console for mod loading errors
