Installing Mods

Enhance your Satisfactory experience with mods! Add quality of life improvements, new features, and expanded content to your dedicated server.

Before You Start

Important Requirements:
  • Both the server and all players must have matching mods installed
  • Mods must be compiled for dedicated servers (not all mods support this)
  • Always backup your save before adding new mods
  • Stop your server before installing or updating mods

Step 1: Download Satisfactory Mod Manager

The easiest way to manage mods on your server is using the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM).
  1. Download SMM from smm.ficsit.app
  2. Install and open the Mod Manager on your computer

Step 2: Connect SMM to Your Server

SMM can connect directly to your Vexium server using SFTP.

Get Your SFTP Credentials

  1. Log into the Game Panel
  2. Select your Satisfactory server
  3. Go to SettingsSFTP Details
  4. Note your:
    • Server Address (IP and port)
    • Username
    • Password (same as your panel password)

Add Your Server to SMM

  1. In SMM, click Manage Servers in the left panel under “Other”
  2. Click Add Server
  3. Enter your connection details in this format:
sftp://username:password@server-ip:sftp-port/
  1. SMM will browse your server files - navigate to the folder containing FactoryServer.exe
  2. Click Select to add the server
Your server will now appear in the Game Version dropdown and can be managed like a local install.

Step 3: Check Mod Compatibility

Not all mods support dedicated servers. Before installing:
  1. Visit ficsit.app and find your desired mod
  2. Check the Latest Version section for a “Server” column
  3. Look for a checkmark (✓) - this means the mod supports dedicated servers
  4. An X means the mod does NOT support dedicated servers yet
In SMM, when managing a server install, you can enable Compatible filtering to only show mods that work with dedicated servers.

Step 4: Install Mods

Stop Your Server First

  1. Go to your Game Panel
  2. Select your server and click Stop
  3. Wait for the server to fully shut down

Install via SMM

  1. In SMM, select your server from the Game Version dropdown
  2. Browse or search for mods
  3. Click Install on the mods you want
  4. SMM will automatically download mods and their dependencies

Start Your Server

  1. Return to your Game Panel
  2. Click Start to boot the server with mods

Step 5: Install Mods on Your Client

Players must have the exact same mods installed to join your server.
Mod Mismatch = Connection Failed! If client and server mods don’t match, players won’t be able to connect. Keep mods synchronized across all players.
  1. Use the same SMM installation to manage both your client and server
  2. Install identical mods on both
  3. Share your mod list with other players so they can match

Share Your Mod Profile

  1. In SMM, go to Profiles
  2. Export your profile
  3. Share the file with other players
  4. They can import it to get the same mods

Configuring Mods

Some mods have configuration options:
  1. Configure mods on your client first
  2. Locate config files (check %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\Config)
  3. Upload the config files to your server via SFTP or File Manager
  4. Restart the server for changes to take effect
Client and server configs should match to avoid unexpected behavior.

Troubleshooting

Cannot Connect to Server in SMM

  • Verify your SFTP credentials are correct
  • Ensure you’re using the SFTP port, not the game port
  • Check that your panel password is correct

Mods Not Loading

  • Confirm the server was fully stopped before installing mods
  • Verify all mods support dedicated servers
  • Check that mod versions match between client and server
  • Restart the server after installing mods

Connection Failed Due to Mod Mismatch

  • Compare installed mods between client and server
  • Ensure mod versions are identical
  • Remove mods one by one to identify the problem mod

Server Crashes After Adding Mods

  • Remove recently added mods
  • Check mod compatibility with your Satisfactory version
  • Review server logs in the Console for error messages
  • Try adding mods back one at a time
