Common issues and solutions for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 servers.
Server Crashes on Startup
Invalid or Missing Steam Token
Error: Server crashes immediately after starting
Cause: Missing or invalid Game Server Login Token
Solution:
- Go to Steam Game Server Account Management
- Generate a new token with the correct App ID:
- American Truck Simulator: 270880
- Euro Truck Simulator 2: 227300
- Go to Startup in your panel
- Enter the token in the Steam Token field
- Restart your server
Wrong App ID = Server Crash! Make sure you use the correct App ID for your game when generating the token.
Token Already in Use
Error: Server fails to start with authentication error
Cause: The same token is being used on another server
Solution: Generate a new unique token for each server instance
Can’t Find Server In-Game
Using Wrong Search Method
Problem: Searching by server name doesn’t work
Solution: You must search by the Session Search ID, not the server name.
- Check your server console for a line like:
Session search id: 123456789/101
- Use the number before the
/ as your search term
- In-game, search for that number in the convoy browser
Server Not Fully Started
Problem: No Session Search ID in console
Solution: Wait for the server to fully initialize. The Session Search ID appears once the server is ready.
Players Can’t Connect
Incorrect Game Version
Problem: Players get version mismatch error
Solution: Ensure all players are running the same game version as the server
Password Issues
Problem: Players can’t join with password
Solution:
- Double-check the password in your config
- Make sure players are entering it correctly
- Passwords are case-sensitive
Moderator Commands Not Working
Steam64 ID Not Set Correctly
Problem: Moderators can’t use commands
Solution:
- Verify the Steam64 ID is correct using SteamID Lookup
- Check the format in
server_config.sii:
moderator_list: 1
moderator_list[0]: 76561198012345678
- Restart the server after making changes
Config Syntax Error
Problem: Server ignores moderator list
Solution: Check for syntax errors in the config file:
- Make sure the count matches the number of moderators
- No extra spaces or characters
- Each moderator on its own line
High Latency
Problem: Players experiencing lag
Solutions:
- Choose a server location closer to your players
- Reduce maximum player count
- Check if server resources are adequate
Server Stuttering
Problem: Intermittent lag spikes
Solutions:
- Monitor server resource usage in the panel
- Consider upgrading your plan if resources are maxed
- Reduce player count if needed
