Hytale Troubleshooting
Solutions to common issues with Hytale servers.
Early Access Notice: Hytale is a brand new game. Bugs are expected and server software may change. If you encounter persistent issues, they may be related to the game’s early access status.
Authorization Issues
Authorization URL Not Appearing
- Wait a moment - the URL may take time to generate
- Check the full console output (scroll up)
- Restart the server and watch for the URL
- Make sure installation completed successfully
Authorization Failed
- Make sure you’re logged into the correct Hytale account
- Enter the code exactly as shown (case-sensitive)
- Complete both authorization steps
- Try restarting the server to get new authorization URLs
Second Authorization URL Missing
- Complete the first authorization fully
- Return to the console and wait for the second URL
- The second prompt appears after the first is completed
- Restart if the URL doesn’t appear after a minute
Server Won’t Start
Stuck After Authorization
- Give it time - first startup after auth takes longer
- Check console for error messages
- Restart the server if stuck for more than 5 minutes
Out of Memory
- Check RAM usage in the Game Panel
- Mods require significantly more RAM
- Upgrade to a higher RAM plan
- Remove some mods to reduce memory usage
Missing Files
- Try reinstalling from Settings → Reinstall Server
- Wait for full installation to complete
- Re-do the authorization process
Connection Issues
Players Can’t Connect
- Verify the server is fully started
- Check the correct IP and port in Network tab
- Ensure no firewall issues on player’s end
- Verify the game version matches
Connection Timeout
- Server may still be starting - wait and retry
- Check if server crashed (view console)
- Restart the server if needed
Server Not in Browser
- Use direct connect with IP:Port instead
- Server browser features may be limited in early access
Server Lag
- Check RAM usage - upgrade if maxed out
- Too many mods for your plan
- Too many players for your plan
- Consider upgrading your server plan
Crashes When Players Join
- Likely a RAM issue with mods
- Upgrade to more RAM
- Remove some mods
- Reduce max players
Mod Issues
Mods Not Loading
- Verify mods are in the correct folder
- Check mod compatibility with current version
- Restart server after installing mods
- Check console for mod errors
Crash After Installing Mod
- Remove the recently installed mod
- Check mod requirements (RAM, dependencies)
- Verify mod is compatible with your Hytale version
- Try mods one at a time to find the problem
Mod Installer Not Working
- Stop the server before installing mods
- Refresh the panel page
- Try manual installation via File Manager
- Contact support if issue persists
Operator Issues
Players Making Themselves Op
This is expected behavior if Allow Operators is 1 (the default).
To prevent this:
- Go to Startup tab
- Set
Allow Operators to 0
- Restart your server
- Manually grant op to trusted players only
Can’t Op Players
- If
Allow Operators is false, use console commands
- An existing operator must grant op status
- Check command syntax
Configuration Issues
Settings Not Applying
- Make sure to save changes in Startup tab
- Restart the server (not just stop/start)
- Check console for configuration errors
Server Resetting Settings
- Stop server before editing configs
- Some settings may only be in Startup tab
- Check for syntax errors in config files
Quick Fixes
Force Stop Server
If server is unresponsive:
- Use the Kill button in Console tab
- Wait 30 seconds
- Start again
- May need to re-authorize
Reset Everything
- Go to Settings tab
- Click Reinstall Server
- Complete authorization again
- Warning: This deletes all data!
