Getting Started with VEIN

Set up your VEIN server and start surviving the apocalypse with friends!

Step 1: Generate a Steam Server Token

You need a Game Server Login Token (GSLT) from Steam for your server to appear in the server browser.
  1. Go to Steam Game Server Account Management
  2. Log in with your Steam account
  3. Create a new game server account
  4. Enter the App ID: 1857950
  5. Copy the generated token
Use the correct App ID! The App ID for VEIN is 1857950. If you enter the wrong App ID, your server won’t work properly.

Step 2: Order Your Server

  1. Visit vexiumhosting.com/games
  2. Select VEIN
  3. Choose your plan (8GB+ RAM recommended for smooth gameplay)
  4. Complete checkout

Step 3: Configure Startup Settings

  1. Log into the Game Panel
  2. Click on your VEIN server
  3. Go to the Startup tab
  4. Configure your server options:
    • Server Name - Displayed in the server browser
    • Max Players - Maximum concurrent players
    • Server Password - Optional, leave empty for public server
    • Public Server - Set to True to appear in server browser
  5. Save your changes

Step 4: Start Your Server

  1. Go to the Console tab
  2. Click Start
  3. Wait for the server to fully initialize
  4. Watch for the server to report it’s ready in the console

Finding Your Server In-Game

Once your server is running, players can find it in the server browser:
  1. Launch VEIN
  2. Select Multiplayer
  3. Open the Server Browser
  4. Search for your server name or use Direct Connect with your server IP and port
If your server doesn’t appear in the browser immediately, wait a few minutes for Steam to propagate the server listing. You can always use Direct Connect with your server’s IP address.

Your server’s connection details can be found in the Game Panel:
  1. Go to your server in the Game Panel
  2. Look at the Network tab for your IP and port
  3. Use format: IP:Port (e.g., 192.168.1.1:27015)

Server Configuration

After your server starts, you can configure it further:
  • Server Name - Set via startup parameters
  • Max Players - Adjust based on your RAM allocation
  • Password - Protect your server with a password
  • Admin Settings - Configure admin permissions
